Visita al Cementerio de la Recoleta - 7mo grado

En el mes de julio, los alumnos de 7mo grado y sus docentes de Inglés visitamos el cementerio de la Recoleta como cierre del primer proyecto del año. 

El mismo duró todo el mes de mayo y junio y se trabajó en base a un booklet diseñado específicamente para ese fin. Trabajamos sobre distintos ejes como historia en la ciudad, formas de vida, distintos diseños y estructuras arquitectónicas a fines del siglo XIX, comparándolas con estructuras edilicias actuales que podemos apreciar en nuestra ciudad de Buenos Aires. También se trabajó el eje literario estudiando los mitos urbanos como tema principal abordando historias alrededor del cementerio de la Recoleta.

             

                                         

Investigamos sobre muchas personalidades famosas e históricas enterradas en el cementerio como Sarmiento, José C. Paz, el General Aramburu así como también personalidades enigmáticas por las características de sus vidas y muertes. Tal es el caso de “La Dama de Blanco”, “La niña que murió dos veces” , etc., (historias y mitos que tomamos como excusa para trabajar sobre la práctica de la lengua extranjera).

     

Durante la visita nos acompañó una guía especializada en arte que vino especialmente de los Estados Unidos, y conversamos sobre los diferentes mitos urbanos que habitan en el cementerio. Los alumnos compartieron con la guía los diferentes mitos estudiados en clase y se mostraron muy interesados en el recorrido del cementerio aportando datos y haciendo preguntas a la guía, quien se mostró muy complacida por el nivel de inglés de los alumnos.

Una vez terminada la visita se trabajó en una encuesta con diferentes preguntas, como por ejemplo, qué les había parecido la visita, quién había sido su personalidad favorita y por qué, y si recomendarían este proyecto/visita a alumnos del siguiente año.

Estas fueron algunas de sus respuestas: 

"La Dama de Blanco por lejos fue la favorita de la mayoría de los alumnos por el mito urbano alrededor del cementerio y la niña que murió dos veces por los acontecimientos que rodean a su muerte."

De las personalidades históricas, Sarmiento lleva el primer lugar por todo lo que significó su obra y por el diseño de su tumba en particular.

Todos los alumnos de 7mo apreciaron y valoraron la visita y definitivamente recomiendan este proyecto a los alumnos de los años siguientes.

 

In July, 7th graders and their English teachers visited the Recoleta cemetery to close the first project of this year.  During May and June, we worked on the project that was based on a booklet specifically designed for that purpose. During the project, we studied different topics such as the city history, lifestyles, different designs and architectural structures at the end of the 19th century, comparing them to the current buildings that we can see today in Buenos Aires. We also studied literature by analyzing the most popular urban myths of the Recoleta cementery.

Some of the famous historical personalities that we studied are Sarmiento, Jose C. Paz and General Aramburu and some enigmatic personalities, due to their lives and tragic deaths, are “The Lady in White” and “The girl who died twice”, etc.

We used these stories and myths as an excuse to work on and improve the English language.

 

Along with the guide who accompanied us, who came especially from the USA, we talked about the different urban myths that inhabit the cemetery.  The students shared with the guide the different myths studied in class and showed a lot of interest during the tour by giving data and asking questions. At the end of the tour, the guide expressed her gratitude and amazement at the level of English the students of 7th form have.

Once the visit was over and back in the classroom we had a class survey to see what the visit was like, which their favorite personality was and why, and if they would recommend this project/visit to the next year students.

These were some of the answers:

“The Lady in white was by far the most popular among students due to the urban myth around her and also the girl who died twice because of the circumstances of her death”.

Of the historical personalities Sarmiento was the favorite one because of his life work and devotion for his country and also because of the design of his tomb.

“I think it was an interesting experience because I learnt things I didn’t know, for example the story of Rufina Cambaceres.”

“I found really interesting the lives that those people had before dying.”

All the students of 7th form appreciated and valued the visit to the museum and would definitely recommend the visit for the following years.
